Member of Parliament for Sefwi Juaboso in the Western Region, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has hailed the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the party's decision to boycott the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry.

The Minority caucus in Parliament says they will not cooperate with the Commission of Inquiry probing the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.

“The Minority in Parliament wishes to serve notice that we would not relent in pursuing the series of democratic actions we had earlier announced until such a time that we are convinced that there is a genuine effort to hold the cowardly masked perpetrators accountable for their crimes . . . Sadly, since that meeting with the Ghana Police Service, not only has there been no further communication with us, more worryingly, there has not been a single arrest of the perpetrators despite the existence of abundant information including numerous pictures and videos which are exceedingly useful to investigators in every jurisdiction,” a statement signed by the Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu read.

Commenting on the issue on 'Kokrokoo' on Peace FM, Hon. Mintah Akandoh stressed that the Commission is just a smokescreen to protect the perpetrators of the violence.

To him, the NDC will not glorify the Commission because they will not do an objective work.

“We don’t have any confidence in this Commission . . . So, that deliberate orchestrated attempt to cover up and allowing some people to abscond from the country, we will not be part of it. We will not glorify it. We will not dignify it by being part of it," he said.
