General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia says his party as a corporate entity is vindicated through the press conference of the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu why Emile Short's Commission of Inquiry is not to be trusted to bring solution to the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.

According to him, the claim of the NDC as a corporate entity that the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry cannot be trusted to bringing conclusion to the violence which marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election is vindicated as the IGP says his outfit cannot continue with investigation into the matter at Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

The IGP in the press conference said “I don’t think my resignation or my being the IGP can influence any investigations in this country . . . Investigations cannot be influenced by me as the IGP.”

In view of this, Asiedu Nketia on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning show said “didn’t we say it that the Commission of Inquiry is set to interfere with the investigations of the police into the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.”

“The Commission said it is true that it interferes with the investigation of the police and that the police can continue with their investigations, while the Commission carries out its work of inquiry. As the Commission began its works, have you heard what the IGP is saying?”

He insisted that the NDC as a corporate entity will have nothing to do with Emile Short's Commission of Inquiry as they don’t trust the work of the Commission is the solution to the problem which escalated at Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

“We have already issued a statement that the Commission of Inquiry’s work, NDC as a corporate entity has nothing to do with the Commission but individuals in NDC who feel they will be called as witnesses, we won’t block them from going. When they are invited, they should take their own decision and this is what I have said from the beginning of the case but as a corporate entity, we don’t trust what they are doing is the solution to the problem,” he averred.
