Mahama Lawsuit: NPP Is Visibly Terrified - NDC Activist

A member of the Communication team of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe is pleading with the delegates of his party to ignore the lawsuit against former President Mahama out of fear that other Presidential hopefuls may take advantage of the suit to cash in more votes.

According to him, the delegates of his party may be confused to think that former President John Mahama cannot lead the NDC again to wrestle power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to the lawsuit.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s flagship programme “Alhaji and Alhaji”, lawyer Tamakloe asserted that the law suit against former President Mahama is much ado about nothing as it is the calculated attempt of the NPP to choose a different Presidential Candidate for the NDC, knowing very well that former President Mahama can win power from them.

He was however certain that some of the NDC Presidential Candidates will be using the lawsuit to tell the delegates not to waste their vote on former President Mahama.

“. . I am pleading with the delegates of our party that NPP know the one that can take power from them and they know it is John Dramani Mahama. And so they have thrown this one in because if you are asking for Constitutional enforcement and interpretation, it is basic every lawyer knows that at least you should go to the Supreme Court. If you want interpretation and enforcement of the Constitution, you know the Supreme Court has the exclusive original jurisdiction,” he averred.

He again said that the intention of the person who went to court is not to advance the course of the law but rather to do political mischief; thus, “as last days are dangerous as the saying goes, I am pleading with the delegates of our party that things will be coming up”.

“Some Presidential Aspirants in the NDC will come to you; in fact, they will be sending you copies of this suit, telling you that the man you said you want to vote for has been sued. So it is a whole mind game that this whole suit is about and so it is important that this mischief is exposed,” he pleaded.

He maintained it is important to let the delegates of the NDC to know that “all the NPP is afraid of is that on February 23, 2019, the delegates of our party will give John Dramani Mahama nothing less than 95% votes to send a strong message that the entire party is solidly behind John Dramani Mahama and I am convinced that we will start singing our famous song ‘the victory of the NDC is coming again’”.
