Ashanti Regional Police Probes Shooting Incident At NDC Regional Office

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has declared its intentions to investigate the shooting incident that claimed the life of one person at the Regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and arrest the perpetrators.

The incident has also left another seriously injured.

The suspects have been identified as Hussein Barnabas a.k.a. Warrior, Damos, Mijima and Abu Taliban, according to a statement signed Mr David Eklu, the Director General of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, stated.

It explained that gun wielding men on motorbikes invaded the premises, shoot indiscriminately, while there was an ongoing meeting between the national and regional executives of the Party on Monday.

The statement explained that four persons alleged to be members of the Hawks, a pro-NDC vigilante group, were behind the attack and they were being tracked to assist in the investigations.

“Meanwhile the crime scene has been condoned off by the Regional Police Command to assist investigations,” it said.

The statement urged the general public to remain calm as it was working closely with the party executives to get the perpetrators arrested.

It advised the public to assist the Police by volunteering the requisite information to ensure their speedy apprehensions.

The Police Administration expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured speedy recovery.
