The Ashanti Regional Peace Council has condemned last Monday’s shooting incidence that took place at the NDC party office, claiming one life and injuring another.

It has consequently sent condolences to the bereaved family whiles appealing to all citizens in the Region, especially those in leadership positions to resist any occurrence that has the potential to breach the peace.

A statement signed by Right Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam, its Chairman and copied the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Tuesday, called on the law enforcement agencies to expedite action and deal professionally with such unexpected occurrences.

“The Council is urging the security agencies to continue with the investigations to its final conclusion”.

“To address such incidences in future,  the Council advises that all political parties make use of the state Security Institutions rather than relying on their unprofessional and illegal security personnel”, the statement added.

The statement counselled that all political activities, which have the common good of the citizenry, should not be marred by violence.

It is also expressing concern over the proliferation of illegal arms in the Ghanaian society and calling for their retrieval by the Small Arms Commission.
