Aspiring presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alban Sumani Bagbin says the Mahama led administration failed during its term of office because the President refused advice and wanted to do things his way.

“My leadership advices to the party were refused to the extent that I had to engage the media to be heard so that I will not be blamed for failure in future. Former President John Dramani Mahama failed in his administration especially through his death ear syndromes and songs he embraced to back those comments,” he lamented.

According to him former President Mahama should not be given an opportunity again to lead the NDC because his level of weakness and failure since his takeover in the party has left the party what it is today, therefore his comeback will be worse than what we see today.

He disclosed that prominent members of NDC have regretted throwing their weight behind John Dramani Mahama to lead the party after the death of Prof. Evans Atta-Mills, because most of his policies did not benefit the party as envisaged.

Speaking in a one-on-one interview with UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, the strong NDC man said it would be on a wrong note should former President John Dramani Mahama be given the opportunity again to lead the NDC because he has been tested before and they know what he can do.

“I believe is about time the rest of us, the six should be given the chance to lead the party for the best, of which I am the best candidate amongst them [the six],” he told Yaa Konamah, host of the show.

Hon. Sumana K. Bagbin dismissed suggestions that he deliberately failed to help former President Mahama’s administration excel with the view to have a chance of contesting him during a flagbearership primary in future.
