Mahama Working Hard To Rig Primary – Ex-Envoy

FORMER GHANA Counsel General to Dubai, Daniel Osei has alleged that former President John Mahama is working hard to “steal” the upcoming presidential primary of the National Democratic Congress.

The primary is slated for Saturday, February 23, 2019 but Ambassador is saying that primaries in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have over the years been rigged in the interest of ex-President Mahama and the trend was expected to continue.

He said “yes, he can win the primaries and is willing to cheat to win it. He’s working hard to steal the primaries.”

He accused the party leadership of aiding the former president to rig polls, noting that “their modus operandi is to create the impression that he’s strong on the grounds and then scheme to steal it.”

According to him, “that was Mahama’s plan for the general elections in 2016 and it failed. The problem with that plan is; it can’t succeed in 2020. We created the impression of “Mahama has won already” to foster a conducive environment to enable their rigging scheme.”

The ex-envoy who is an ardent critic of the former President made this known in his latest article, saying “the process is rigged and will only yield bogus results, which will cost us dearly in 2020.”

He wondered “what is fair about the primary process when executives who are supposed to referee the contest, have openly declared support for one candidate?”

Ambassador Osei has always maintained that former President Mahama is not the best candidate to secure victory for the NDC against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2020.

He cautioned that “We can win 2020 if we are willing to remedy our sense of doubt and rise above the defeatist posture that suggest all we have to offer Ghana and Ghanaians is failure.”
