Prez Akufo-Addo Is Not In Control If, . . . - Tei-Larbi Posits

Member of Parliament [MP] for Lower Manya Constituency in the Eastern Region, Ebenezer Okletey Tei-Larbi has accused the President, Nana Akufo-Addo, of orchestrating the violence that rocked the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

Contributing to Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Hon. Tei-Larbi told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that he has no doubts in his mind that President Akufo-Addo and his government deliberately sent "thugs" clad in security uniform to the by-election to terrorize NDC electorates in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

He was commenting on the Emile Short Commission of Inquiry into the by-election violence.

To him, the Director of Operations at National Security, Col. Michael Opoku's revelations before the Commission, have exposed the evil plot by the Akufo-Addo government.

It was a government sponsored operation. And government must come out clean and accept the fact that they got it all wrong. They sent the wrong signal and we must stop embarrassing the nation", he stated.

He was emphatic that there is no way the President can assert he had no idea about what transpired during the by-election, and that if he denies knowledge of the activities of his appointees to cause mayhem in the constituency, then "he (President Akufo-Addo) is not in control" of the nation.

Hon. Tei-Larbi also slammed the security agencies for allowing themselves to be infiltrated by untrained personnel who attacked electorates at the Ayawaso West Wuogon.

It’s an embarrassment . . . If the security operatives or the professionally trained security sit idle to allow this thing to thrive, you’re embarrassing the country called Ghana. And we’ll never be taken serious anywhere,” he added.
