Work On Tamale Interchange Starts Soon

The construction of the interchange in Tamale-the Northern regional capital-is expected to kick off soon.

A reliable source told Daily Guide that the sod-cutting for the commencement of the construction is expected to be done in March in Tamale as part of the 63rd Independence Day celebration.

Daily Guide has gathered that the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Atta, delegated the director, Department of Urban Roads and the Northern regional director to have preliminary discussions regarding the sod-cutting ceremony that will be held in Tamale with the Mayor of Tamale, Musah Superior.

President Akufo-Addo will be in Tamale as part of the 63rd Independence Day celebration and it is believed that he will be cutting the sod for the construction of the Tamale Interchange.

The 63rd Independence Day celebration is expected to be held at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, making the Northern Region the first region to host the celebration aside from the Greater Accra Region.

Being the first of its kind in the northern part of the country, the interchange will link communities, towns and cities to the regional capital, thereby improving trade, movement of goods and persons.

The Chinese government has offered to build an interchange in Tamale in the Northern Region.

The facility forms part of the $15 billion grant funding by the Chinese government.
