Government Allocates Administrative Building For NER

Government has allocated the Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institute’s buildings at Nalerigu as a temporary structure to serve as a Regional Administration block for the newly created North East Region (NER).

They are a two-floor storey building, one of which has 15 rooms, and the other has five rooms.

Mr Salifu Saeed, Northern Regional Minister, who inspected the buildings at Nalerigu, said they would be renovated within a month to pave way for staff of the new region to move into them to start work.

Mr Saeed said alternative classroom blocks and dormitories had been made available for the relocation of the students of the Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institute.

He said government’s promise of allocating GHc20 million to each of the new regions as seed money was ready, adding, bank accounts would be created for the new regions to help transfer the money from the central government to them to facilitate administrative work in the regions.

He urged the citizenry to collectively support to ensure the smooth running of administrative work in the region.

Mr Saeed and his delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Sheriga at his palace at Nalerigu to thank him for his support and partnership with government to bring governance closer to the ordinary citizens.

He said as part of the government's free senior high school (SHS) initiative, some funds had been allocated to put up classroom blocks and accommodation to support various SHSs in the new region in the area of infrastructure.
