The leadership of the National Democratic Congress has unveiled its flagbearer for the 2020 General Elections.
At short ceremony organized by the leadership of the party at the party headquarters, National Chairman of the party, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, explained that the party has gone for a successful elections and have elected candidate John Dramani Mahama for the 2020 general elections.
He congratulated other aspirants for their show of maturity, congratulatory messages and assurances they gave after the results for the elections were announced.
"It has demonstrated the NDC is one big united family. The party shows appreciation and per the slogan of the party 2020, Together We Can, we are leaving no stone unturned for the 2020 elections.
We will all have to work together to ensure that our president John Dramani Mahama is elected president of this country come 2020," he said.
He however assured every former candidate as they move to work for 2020, they have work for everyone of the former candidates, adding that they are going to harness and tap into their rich experience for their 2020 campaign.
"I commend everyone of you and urge all of you to support our flagbearer for elections 2020. Infact the machinery is going to lubricated more so that we all work hand in gloves to ensure that Ghanaians return power to us for the president Mahama to continue his unfinished business and the good work he was doing before he left power," he added.
Former President John Mahama, on his part, commended his colleague aspirants for a good fight. Whiles assuring of his desire to meet with his fellow contestants, the ex-president underscored the need for the NDC to put up a united front in next year's elections.
"I believe that competition is good and our base has been energized. A lot of the apathy that existed in the party has been shrugged off. The party is now more than united and resolute for elections 2020.
"One of our problems going into 2016 was the lack of unity within the party, but moving into 2020 elections united, will enable us cling to victory.
"Lets continue to work together with a united front to send a signal to our grass root base that to let them know that elections are over and we need to work for victory 2020.
"I will meet with you my fellow aspirants in the coming days to discuss how best we can all work to ensure victory 2020," he added.
