Personally Invite National Security To Investigate Leaked Tape If, . . . - Simon Osei Dares Ofosu-Ampofo

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah says the NDC National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo who is at the center of a leaked audio recording, should report the issue to the Police, if indeed the contents of the said tape are palpable falsehoods.

Contributing to a panel discussion on "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM, Simon Osei Mensah wondered why the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would claim the leaked audio recording has been altered, saying "if it's a fake tape, it cannot be said to have been doctored" except when the voice captured on the tape is that of Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo.

Fake Audio Disparaging Northerners

The Ashanti Regional Minister, himself the subject of one of such viral leaked tapes a few months ago, where he was alleged to made ethnocentric comment against Northerners in reaction to the opposition NDC’s Joshua Akamba’s engagement with students of the Tempane Senior High School over the Free SHS Programme, said he personally "directed the National Security to investigate and ensure those behind this coward act are brought to book."

Alluding to his situation, Hon Simon Osei said, there was "no semblance" of that particular voice and his, and surmised that his detractors clearly manufactured the fake audio ostensibly to dent his image.

He therefore told the host, Kwami Sefa Kayi, that the only way the NDC National Chairman can absolve himself is to involve the security agencies to investigate the leaked tape in order to vindicate him.

Is it true or false? Or is it true but there’s been some distortions or it is not the truth at all? If it’s not the truth at all, then my brother Ofosu-Ampofo should report the issue to the security agencies for them to launch investigations to prove it’s not the truth or someone has mimicked his voice,” he said.

Leaked Tape

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo was reportedly heard on the leaked tape inciting his party members to unleash venom on Mrs. Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC National Chairman charged the party members to wage war against the EC Chairperson and also make life uncomfortable for the members of the governing NPP.
