Commission of Inquiry: Sam George Caused Crowd To Agitate - 'Double'

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Sam George was the one who caused the agitation among the crowd gathered infront of Delali Brempong's house, according to an operative of the National Security, Bright Ernest Akomea, popularly known as 'Double'.

Sam George had earlier stated in his testimony at the Emile Short Commission that he met the crowd already agitated over a 'key' which had been collected by the SWAT team.

He said he tried to calm them down by asking 'Double' who was the leader of the team to hand over the key to him.

However, when 'Double' appeared before the Commission, he recounted that they heard gunfire and went to find out what was going on.

"When we got there, we asked who gave the warning shot and nobody answered. We told DSP Azugu to bring more people".

According to him, they met three cars packed with people; ready to move and "we told them to alight for a search to be conducted (to search for the gun)".

He added that before Sam George had appeared at the scene, the crowd was cooperating.

"Sam George got there when we started the search . . . Before his arrival; they all agreed that we search the car. When he got there, he asked why we were intimidating his people and I told him that there were a lot of people there so he should go back for us to do the search, and he insisted on stopping us from doing the search and the people also started agitating. When we were pushing them back they started throwing stones and water at us; the water from the house and the stones from the crowd," he indicated.
