International Women's Day: Don’t Give “Free Sex” To Men – Kayayeis' Leader Advises

The leader of the Association of Kayayeis’ in Ghana, Hajia Adiza popularly known as ‘Zongo Pioneer’ has called on her members [who are mostly women] to be cautious of how they engage in inappropriate sex as the world marks International Women’s Day.

Zongo Pioneer was emphatic that her members should not give “free sex” - but rather “Plan for a good family, don’t just allow anyone to have sex with you because the person claim to love you. If indeed the person is in love with you, let him marry you so you can plan for your family”.

International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women's rights.

This year's theme Balance for Better highlights the urgent need for a gender balanced world.

Speaking on Peace FM News, Friday, March 8, 2019, Hajia Adiza urged all women to be hard working so they will not depend on men.

“If we don’t work, they [men] will take advantage of us,” she said.
