Manasseh’s Video: This Group Might Be “Dada Mma” Militia Group...Always In Suits, Praying And Lobbying For Jobs For Members-Awuku

The modus operandi of the video of an investigative journalist Manasseh Azure has been challenged by the National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku as the activities of De-Eye Group has nothing in common with the real militia groups like Azorka Boys, Delta and Invincible Forces and the Hawks.

“What kinds of people are seen in the video; is it only young men or macho-men in the video? Are there women involved? The kind of militia groups we know in this country like the Azorka Boys, Delta, Invincible, the Hawks, and the way they operate as compare to this group which has a website and a woman as their secretary who write official letters and sign, then I will say this militia group is ‘Dada Mma’ militia group”, he pontificated.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Sammy Awuku said the explanation he got from the video says “before they will start their meeting, they say a word of prayer. If this is how the militia groups we know operate in this country, then I would have had peace of mind as National Organizer”.

“For the past two years, if I have had such militia group who don’t cause troubles, engage in fights but rather look for jobs for themselves and some even engage in farming activities as well as write letters to state institutions to look for job vacancies for their members then I would be happy to sleep soundly”, he stressed.

He reiterated that the UTV should have taken credit for being the first to interview this De-Eye Group which is now captured by Manasseh Azure as a militia group.

“I remember UTV interviewed this group last year and if it is the same group, then UTV, Despite Group of Companies started it first. I watched their interview late last year where they were advising other people not to engage in hooliganism, saying if the President appoints someone, there is no need to cause violence and if such group is what both NPP and NDC have, then organizers of these two political parties will have it easy controlling them in the country”, he added.

“I have not seen any militia group who pray and praise God and advise each other not to cause trouble before as I joined politics many years ago. I am struggling to understand; that is my problem. I want to understand the modus operandi of the video”, he narrated.

Interacting with the host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Manasseh’s video, he said “per the report given, it means this group has been in existence for more than two years. I heard of De-Eye group for the first time in 2012 and since that time, has anybody heard they have attacked, maimed and brutalised people?

He posited that such activities of De-Eye group can be akin to “women’s fellowship” and not militia group as for the past two years nobody in Ghana has mentioned that this group has even killed a mosquito but rather has become the gatekeeper who speaks against groups that cause troubles in the country.

“I have never seen any militia group in suits before because the Azorka boys, Delta, Invincible and the Hawks we know don’t dress like this; this is more like ‘dada mma’ militia group”, he described.
