I Didn’t Facilitate 'Double’s' Recruitment Into National Security – Sammi Awuku
National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, has denied vehemently ever recommending by verbally or written, the recruitment of Bright Akomea aka ‘Double’ into the National Security Operation.
According to Sammy Awuku, although he has known ‘Double’ for nearly 12 years, he absolutely had no hand in the security operatives, getting the job in such a sensitive institution.
Speaking on Kasapa FM, Sammi Awuku stated that ‘Double’ is educated and currently schooling in a tertiary institution in Accra, but he resort in speaking Twi because he wanted to expressed himself better.
“Double’ speaks English, but maybe he chose to be cautious and spoke in a language that he will be very comfortable when he appeared before the Commission of Inquiry which has the powers of a High court and also a Commission of records. Anything you say can also be used against you in the court of law. So if I were him, and I am comfortable with the Dagbani language, I would have spoken that so that I will be free. I know ‘Double’ speaks English, I can also tell you that currently, he’s schooling in a Tertiary Institution here in Accra,” he disclosed.
'Double' has been accused by Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel George, of being among the National Security operatives who fired gunshots towards a crowd during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections on January, 31, 2019.
Sam George also alleged that 'Double' was a member of the pro-NPP militia group, 'Invincible Forces'.
Bright Ernest Akomea, also known as 'Double' has debunked the claims by the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram that he was a member of the 'Invincible Forces' before being recruited into the National Security.
However, taking his turn at the Commission, 'Double' said he joined the National Security two years ago and prior to that he had never been a member of any vigilante group.
He further indicated that "I was a mobile phone dealer prior to my recruitment".
'Double' spoke local dialect, Twi, throughout his session with the Commission of Inquiry.
