I Can't Link Nana Addo To De-Eye Group, But.... - Former Dep Finance Minister

A Former Deputy Finance Minister in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Mona Helen Quartey, says eventhough she "cannot link" the activities of De-Eye group to the President,  Nana Akufo- Addo, she finds it ‘difficult to believe’ that no one knew of the group's operations at the Osu Castle.

According to her, there was the presence of the security personnel and government appointees at the Osu Castle, which used to be a former seat of government; hence somebody would have known.

Mona’s comments comes on the heels of a Joy News investigative piece which disclosed that a private organisation; De-Eye, founded by a former bodyguard of President Akufo-Addo, Nana Wireko Addo was training people in a ‘militia’ way.

The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has disclosed that the group was evicted from the Osu Castle in October 2018; however, their operations continued according to checks by ace journalist, Manasseh Azure. Click to read

Speaking to this during a panel discussion on Joy Newsfile programme, Saturday, Mona Quartery said: “it is difficult to believe they were evicted…if they were evicted, for them to return when there are police reps at the castle…we know government is using the castle as Flagstaff House annex; therefore there are security people constantly at that facility (and) for them not to know that this gentleman is still using the place is difficult to believe”.

She further blamed the National Security for 'starving' President Akufo-Addo of information on the operations of De-Eye.

What is unnerving is the fact that the president is appearing to not know about these people; does that mean the national security is not giving him the right information? We expect that the president of this nation will know certain things. I am not sure I can link De-Eye group to him (President) His people on the ground have let him down by not letting him know immediately,” she indicated.
