"Tikesie"

First to be honoured was Kwame Nkrumah "Tikese", one of Ghana’s media Generals, with the "Most Innovative Morning Show Host" in Ghana award.

Kwame Nkrumah was commended for his unique style in presentation and historical knowledge on issues.

He has over the past decade of media practice, earned the accolade, the voice of innovative and excellent delivery in the media.

Speaking after receiving his award, Tikese noted that he is a "strong believer" of Pan Africanism and will continue to propagate Pan African values, whiles calling for "unity on the African continent".

I share the honor of this prestigious award with all who helped in diverse ways to make this a reality,” he added.

He also expressed profound gratitude to his employers, the Chief Executive Officer of the Despite Group, Dr. Osei Kwame 'Despite' and Managing Director, Dr. Fadda Dickson.

"Royal Baby"

Couple of minutes into the function, versatile radio presenter and host of Peace FM's Mid-morning show, Kofi Kum-Bilson, was also honored with a Life Time Achievement Award.

Affectionately called "The Royal Baby", Mr Bilson was born on 2nd January 1970 at Kaneshie First Light in Accra to Mr. A.B Bilson then the Manager of UTC and Mrs. Juliana Bislon an educationist.

He had his primary education at Datus Complex, Bubiashie in Greater Accra. Joined Accra Academy in 1981 where he had his secondary education from Form 1 to Upper Six.

After his National Service, and just to please his mother who wanted him to be a Chartered Accountant, he pursued a course in Chartered Accountant. But it was obvious his main interest was in music and after the passing away of his mother, Kofi Kum Bilson took up his personal passion; that is music and radio.

In 1991, he became Ghana’s no. 1 and Africa's no. 1 DJ and later undertook a two year training course at GBC where he hosted the "Band-stand" and "Sunday Morning Gospel" programmes.

Just when he was passing out to become a full staff of GBC, Joy FM, a private radio station started operations, so he applied and was subsequently employed.
