What Is Wrong If We Ask For A Wider Consultation On Vigilante Disbandment? - Akandoh

Member of Parliament (MP) for Juaboso constituency, Hon. Kwabena Minta Akando says he can’t understand why members of the government in power and the New Patriotic Party [NPP] have problem with their letter of proposal asking that government involve all political parties and civil societies in the militia disbandment dialogue.

According to him, government should understand and have it clear that the NDC and NPP alone cannot meet to agree on a decision taken to disband vigilantism without including the other needed stakeholders.

He said there is nothing like a foreigner when the security of a country is at stake.

“President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government must know that there is nothing like an outsider in this country when we are talking about a peaceful environment, not even the diplomats,” he said.

Mintah Akandoh who spoke on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ political panel discussion segment indicated that the first gentleman of the land, President Nana Akufo-Addo is not ready to lead the campaign for disbanding every form of vigilante group as he stated in his 2019 state of the nation address.

“The proposals raised in our letter to the President per his speech to disband vigilante groups are the first and important decision every fair person will consider in fighting his wish if he really meant his speech made,” he said.

“Unless they want to show us the harmful aspect of our submissions raised in the letter pertaining the disbandment of vigilante groups, indeed what is wrong if we ask that the conversation is extended,” he added.
