Let's Legalize And Regulate Problems of Marijuana - Kofi Akpaloo

The Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo, has called for the legalization of illicit substance, Marijuana popularly known as ‘wee’ in Ghana.

According to him, the legalization is necessary because it will help boost the country’s economy.

“It is good in the drug market, it is good for hair creams, good for body creams . . . the USA that legalized it is making lots of money out of it,” he told Peacefmonline.com in an interview.

Kofi Akpaloo however argued that marijuana has a lot of medical advantages which could benefit the country if legalized.

“When you go to some of the western countries, it [Marijuana] has been legalised for health purposes and we can also do same. If alcohol and cigarettes are legal in Ghana, why not marijuana?” he questioned.

He advised that the abuse of the drug could be controlled if the authorities research to put up structures and measures to prevent the drug from being abused.

“Canada legalized marijuana in October 2018 and put up measures to prevent people from abusing the drug. We can also do same here,” he said.

Mr Akpaloo assured that if voted into power in the 2020 election, his government will do whatever it takes to legalize the use of marijuana in Ghana.
