Galamsey Expose: Kweku Baako Surprised At CID . . . Directs Bissue To Martin Amidu

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr., appears taken aback at attempts by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to investigate the Anas’ galamsey expose which is already being dealt with by another agency.

He does not understand why the CID will meddle in this case when they are aware it is in the hands of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas released yet another documentary on galamsey titled: ‘Galamsey Fraud’.

The Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue who has currently stepped aside was captured in the video allegedly taking a bribe of GHC35,000 to allow a company carry out mining activities during the ban on all small scale mining activities in Ghana.

After the documentary was aired, Mr Bissue wrote a statement saying “I have taken notice of the contents of the latest documentary by Tiger Eye P.I., titled ‘Galamsey Fraud’ I would like to state, at the very outset, that I am innocent of the allegations levelled against me in the documentary, as I was not and have not been engaged in any acts of corruption, criminality or misconduct.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Bissue on Monday confirmed on his Facebook Wall that he responded to an invitation from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

I have subjected myself to the laws of Ghana, and since no one is above the law, I urge Tiger Eye PI and Anas to provide the CID with the raw, unedited footages, so that the good people of Ghana can have the benefit of knowing the truth,” he wrote.

But contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Kweku Baako said he does not know why accusations are rife that Anas has not presented the raw footage of the video when it has already been submitted to Martin Amidu.

"I am raising issues that it is surprising that the CID even if they claim they were prompted by the invitation from the inter-ministerial committee, did not take recognition of the fact that this matter is already with another agency of state which is a creature of law. My advice to Mr. Bissue is that he should find his way (to the Special Prosecutor’s office). In telling his story, he (Bissue) should not create the impression that somebody is trying to hide the raw footage," he indicated.
