What Will Be Afenyo-Markin’s Next Move On UEW? – Kwesi Pratt Asks

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has urged Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin to make his next line of action clear after admitting he was misled to fight against former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Professor Mawutor Avoke.

“What is Afenyo-Markin doing about the UEW story now that he is very much aware that Rev. Father Prof Anthony Afful-Broni lied in court to acquire the Vice-Chancellor position?” he asked.

According to the seasoned journalist, who was contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ programme, Afenyo-Markin has clearly made his point that the current Vice-Chancellor is not occupying the position on merit. And if that is truly the case, then it stands to reason that the NPP MP could have something up his sleeves, because he (Afenyo) had on countless occasions called for the former VC's removal from office.

Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency, who doubles as Board Chairman of the Ghana Water Company Limited, is reportedly scheming for the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Father Professor Anthony Afful-Broni to resign because of what he says is his inability to properly manage the university.

“Afful-Broni was supposed to do [more], but he has failed. I am sure that in the next few days, if he has conscience, he will resign and leave the university because he has failed the University. Afful-Broni has failed the University; he has misled all of us – that is a matter of fact. Mistakes of the past shouldn’t be repeated,” he said.
