Court Assures “Sexy Dondon” Of A Competent Ghanaian Lawyer

An Accra High Court which is to start the trial of Daniel Asiedu aka Sexy Dondon, one of the suspects being held for the murder of the late J.B. Dankwa- Adu, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, says it will get him a competent lawyer to defend him.

The court presided over by Mr Justice Boadi gave the assurance when Asiedu and Vincent Bossu aka Junior Agogo appeared before it for the first time.

Asiedu continued to insist on being represented by a lawyer from the International Criminal Court.

According to Asiedu he would be glad if the said lawyer from Ghana would be truthful.
He told the court that his lawyer, Mr Augustines Obuor was fed up with the matter hence he has not been attending court.
The court, however, informed Asiedu that there were competent lawyers in Ghana who could defend him.

In the case of Bossu, he told the court that his lawyer was Mr Kasim Miniru.

Ms Sefakor Batsa, Senior State Attorney informed the court that; “This is a fresh matter and we are here for the court’s direction.”

She explained that after committal proceedings at the District court, the matter was transferred to the High Court.
The trial judge indicated that he had seen the bill of indictment, summary of evidence and other documents filed.

Asiedu and Bossu are being held over the death of the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to wit robbery.

Asiedu is facing additional charges of robbery and murder.

The two were arrested following their alleged involvement in the murder of the MP.

In the year 2016, the MP was murdered in his residence at East Legon and following Police investigations the accused persons were arrested.
They have since been remanded into Prison custody by the High Court to reappear on April 1.
