Birim South DCE Confirmed

ASARE Danso – the presidential nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim South District Assembly in the Eastern Region – has been confirmed as the new DCE for the area.

The 13 assembly members present duly voted to confirm his nomination by giving him 100 per cent of votes.

In his opening statement, the Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, thanked President Akufo-Addo for honouring his promise of creating additional districts to ensure that developers get to every corner of the country.

He added that, currently, the Eastern Region has 33 municipal and district assemblies, equaling the total number of constituencies we have in the region.

Prior to the election, he called on all the assembly members to vote massively for the nominee to send a clear message that they were in full support of the President’s choice, adding that any delay in the endorsement is a delay to the development of the area.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Asare Danso – a former tutor of Akim Swedru Senior High School – expressed his gratitude to the President for the opportunity given to him to serve his people.

He also thanked the assembly members for the overwhelming endorsement and promised to work hard with them to justify the trust they have in him.

The election was officiated by the Regional and District Electoral Officers of the Electoral Commission.

He was consequently sworn into office by the Circuit Court judge in the district.
