"Beer, Yoghurt Prices" Have All "Gone Up...Akufo-Addo "Promised Heaven But Delivering Hell" - Omane Boamah

Former Communications Minister in the erstwhile John Mahama administration, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has hit hard at the Akufo-Addo government accusing him of "promising heaven but delivering hell".

According to him, Ghanaians have seen through what this current administration stands, claiming unbearable hardships as a result of astronomical fuel price increases, unfulfilled electoral promises and job losses have become the order of the day.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s "Alhaji and Alhaji" programme, Dr. Omane Boamah said the NPP government has so failed to honour its numerous campaign promises, which won them political power.

We are dealing with a government that came into office on the back of major promises; promising heaven and delivering hell. Hardships and when I talk about hardships, I am talking about fuel prices; if you ask yourself today, are you buying fuel less than what you were buying it 2 years and 3 months ago? The answer is an emphatic no. Juxtapose that with the promise that the NPP offered”, he averred.

Talk to the civil servants, even releases for them to be able to push paper for them to be able to do their work, year in year out, this government has been running acutely severe arrears. I am sure Ghanaians are very much aware of the extent of job losses, not just to talk about job losses at the banking sector alone which are very obvious as we heard the victims talk about it in public”, he chided.

He patted the back of the Minority in Parliament led by Hon. Ato Forson for enumerating some of the reported job losses and potential job losses that this country is facing; reiterating that the economy under President Akufo-Addo and his government is indeed in shambles.

He asserted that the job losses within the banking sector is as a result of the "reckless, vindictive and targeted policies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration"; adding that many companies have also laid off workers due to unfair and high electricity tariffs.

The effect of the bad economy has been that even Beer price has increased. The other effect has been that Yoghurt, even that is not spared, and so beyond the rent, food prices, fuel, transportation cost and all have gone up. This is a government that promised that they were going to deliver heaven and this is what they are delivering”, he slammed.
