We Will Fix Ho-Denu Highway - GHA

The Volta Regional Office of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has assured motorists and other road users of the completion of surface works on the Ho-Denu highway by close of the year.

The bad state of the highway has been a major concern for road users for many years with some appealing to government through the media to fix the stretch.

The route is littered with potholes, illegal speed rumps and has no road signs and road markings.

Mr Philip Agbati, Regional Director, GHA, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said surface works on the road begun last year with three contractors and expected to be completed this year at the contract sum of over five million Ghana cedis.

The road surface work covers Ho to Ziope, Ziope to Dzodze and Dzodze to Denu junction.

He said the work was stalled last year due to financial constraints but expressed the hope that the contractors would return to site to complete the work as scheduled because the Authority had raised certificates for some works done.

Mr Agbati said contractors have also been engaged for the installation of speed tables, road signs and road line markings at a contract sum of over six million Ghana cedis.

He said the Authority has taken note of the numerous illegal speed rumps along the route erected by communities due to reckless driving on the stretch.

Mr Agbati said all illegal speed rumps would be replaced with speed tables which were friendlier.
