Ahmed’s Family Punch Holes In CID’s Statement

The family of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the investigative journalist who was murdered a few months ago have accused the Ghana Police Service of peddling falsehood in their update.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Police Service at a press conference Tuesday had indicated that they have interrogated 13 suspects and put one on remand in the Ahmed murder case.

But speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness news, Alhassan Yunus, Spokesperson of the family said in as much as he doesn't want to sound 'cynical', "the issue they (Police) put out there wasn’t accurate. They asked us to cooperate with them which we have been doing. They are not telling us anything but look at the explanations they are giving. As at now, we don’t know what to do again, we are confused about the whole situation. But we are planning to meet and have a fresh talk with them (police) this week.”

According to him, “we have listened to the police but as a family, we are not happy with the information the police put out because we made the arrest that the police talked about ourselves.

Citizen's Arrest

Mr Yunus further indicated how they arrested one suspect at Ridge and handed him over to the Police.

"On March 15, we made the first arrest at Ridge Junction because the police said it could not get to where the suspects were because it was a very dangerous place. So we went there and made the arrest on our own and handed the first person to the police and followed them to the Madina Police Station. When we got there, they said the case was beyond them so they had to transfer it to the CID Headquarters,” Alhassan Yunus noted.
