'Walewale Adams Smith' Still Delivering 'Inglorious' Lectures - Adongo Delivers Bawumia's 'Terminal Report'

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo says issues raised by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during a maiden Town Hall Meeting, was a rehash of what President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said when he presented the 2019 State of the Nation Address in Parliament.

Dr Bawumia on Wednesday led the Economic Management Team to give Ghanaians update on activities of the ruling government.

He spoke on the depreciation of the cedi and a 30 and 50 percent reduction in import duties which has created excitement among importers.

Speaking to this at a lecture organised by the opposition National Democratic Congress, Isaac Adongo said "the people of Ghana were served with what we already knew . . . they are still delivering lectures in government when they are supposed to manage the economy . . . we had a second State of the Nation address yesterday after the President had gone to parliament to give his State of the Nation address . . . this is the second deceit (reduction in import duties) that will hang the NPP government in 2020."

According to him, the management of an economy is a serious business which cannot be reduced to 'comic reliefs' and inciting the public against expectations that cannot be met.

He asked the Vice President, whom he christened as 'Walewale Adams Smith' not to "once again plunge this country into international disgrace".

The Theme for the lecture was "the state of the Ghanaian economy, the myth, and the truth".
