'Ghana Being Governed Under The Whims of Despotic King Akufo-Addo' - Murtala

Former Member of Parliament for the people of Nantong Constituency, Murtala Ibrahim Mohammed, has posited that the proposed University Bill does not reflect the view point of the entire New Patriotic Party (NPP), but rather the personal view of the "King"; Akufo-Addo.

“ . . I don’t think that it reflects the view point of the entire NPP; instead, it reflects the view point of the King [Nana Addo]”, he asserted.

He has thus advised Ghanaians especially academicians and educationists not to think that the purpose for the proposed University amendment bill is for their good.

He intimated that the proposed amendment Bill is rather for the good of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); describing the ruling government as “myopic” and “short-sighted”.

Commenting on the University Bill on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji weekend talk show, Murtala Mohammed maintained that the country is no longer being governed by rules and regulations enshrined in the 1992 Constitution, but through the dictates of “King Nana”.

I have said on this program and I will reiterate the same point that we are not being governed in this country by just rules and regulations; we are governed in this country by whims and caprices of the King, in this case King Nana,” he jabbed.

He stressed that decisions taken by the President does not take into account its likely consequences, adding that “as long as it inures to the benefit of him [Nana Addo] as the President, he goes ahead with them”.
