Coincidence??? CCTV Cameras Went Off 2 Minutes Before Shooting At Fiesta Royale - Pratt Wonders

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says it is exceedingly worrying as a country the level of criminal activities taking place every day, and yet the security agencies, especially the Police Service, cannot make any headway to curtail the situation.

According to the veteran journalist, it is alarming that no arrest has been made for an incident that happened nearly two weeks ago when two men on a motorbike pumped three bullets into a mobile currency exchange vendor right in front of Fiesta Royale Hotel, where CCTV cameras are installed.

A mobile currency exchange vendor who outwitted two suspected robbers by giving them a bag stuffed with rags instead of one with $60,000, received gunshots in his leg and the back of his head within the precincts of the Fiesta Royale Hotel at Dzorwulu in Accra, last Friday.

The Accra Regional Police Command has mounted a search for the suspected robbers who bolted on a motorbike after shooting the victim.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge, said the victim told the police that he received a call on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from an unknown caller who requested $60,000 in exchange for Ghana cedis.

But commenting on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji talk show as a panellist, Kwesi Pratt wondered why till date, there have not been any arrest made.

He intimated that “when I heard that a shooting has taken place in front of Fiesta Royale Hotel, I thought that it would be easy to apprehend those who were responsible because the area is covered by CCTV cameras”.

Meanwhile, Kwesi Pratt has disclosed that his checks indicates that the CCTVs malfunctioned a few minutes before the incident occured.

...but my checks now reveal that the CCTV cameras went off two minutes before the shooting. I mean that is bizarre; was it coincidence? If it was not coincidence, who disabled the CCTV cameras and why did it coincide with this shooting? It is a bit strange,” he wondered.
