Renew Your Faith, Commitment To Ghana Project This Ramadan – Prez Nana Addo To Muslims

President Nana Akufo-Addo has wished Muslims around the globe particularly those in Ghana well as they begin Ramadan today, May 6, 2019.

The president urged Muslims to use the holy period to renew their faith and commitment to what he says is the Ghana Project.

In a Facebook post, Nana Addo urged Muslims to pray for their leaders and continue to live in unity during and after Ramadan.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ghana, I extend greetings to Muslims in Ghana and all over the world, as they begin the one-month journey of spiritual devotion, in line with Allah’s command. It is my hope that this month of Ramadan, being a blessed one, will renew their faith and commitment to the Ghana Project.”

Ramadan, which is the holy month for the Islamic community began today, Monday in most countries.

Muslims will in the next 30 days abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations from dawn to sunset, in the hope that it will lead to greater consciousness of Allah.

“Let us use the occasion to pray for the leadership of the Muslim community in Ghana, especially its National Chief Imam, who has been an exemplary guide of the Muslim faithful in Ghana since 1993. Let the fellow-feeling, that will characterise this holy month, continue to define how we deal with one another, even after the month of Ramadan”, Nana Addo added.

“On behalf of the government and people of Ghana, I extend greetings to Muslims in Ghana and all over the world, as they begin the one-month journey of spiritual devotion, in line with Allah’s command. It is my hope that this month of Ramadan, being a blessed one, will renew their faith and commitment to the Ghana Project.

The Qur’an establishes the basis for the Ramadan fast, when it states that, “fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may ward off evil” (Q:2183). Many ills continue to plague our society, and it is my prayer that Muslims will use this month of intense devotion to the principles of the Qur’an to pray to Allah to alleviate these ills, and anchor our country firmly on the path of progress, prosperity and righteousness.

Let us use the occasion to pray for the leadership of the Muslim community in Ghana, especially its National Chief Imam, who has been an exemplary guide of the Muslim faithful in Ghana since 1993. Let the fellow-feeling, that will characterise this holy month, continue to define how we deal with one another, even after the month of Ramadan.

Once again, I wish all Muslims Allah’s guidance and peace as they observe this truly unique month of bliss and blessing.

Asalamu Alaikum!”
