Jean Mensa Must Consult Afari-Gyan, Others For Advice – Kofi Adams

Former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Adams has urged the current Electoral Commission (EC) administration, led by Mrs Jean Mensa, to seek advice from Dr Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, Mrs Charlotte Osei and other former EC appointees in discharging its duties.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Mr Adams stated that the work done so far by the Jean Mensa-led EC is very poor and damning to the Commission.

“I don’t know who advises the EC or Dr Bossman on how the EC works, but their responses to issues and parties’ consultation at Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meetings has not been good.

“Fortunately, we have the likes of Afari-Gyan, Charlotte Osei and many others who are all former EC appointees, they can consult on how to make their work effective,” he urged.

The call follows a statement by a Deputy Commissioner at the EC, Dr Bossman Asare, who described concerns over the recent ‘clash’ between the Chairperson of the Commission and NDC general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, as “much ado about nothing.”

Mr Adams said the EC always has a way of justifying their actions whenever people raise concerns.

The EC boss and Mr Nketia in a leaked tape were allegedly involved in a heated verbal exchanges during an IPAC meeting; a development which has sparked concerns over the nature of the relationship between the opposition party and the Commission going into the 2020 polls.
