Afenyo-Markin Reveals How He Accepted To Be A Lawyer

Chairperson of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has revealed his reason behind his interest in education despite his entrepreneurial skills.

On Adom FM’s Mpensenpensenmu panel discussion programme, the Member of the Parliament [MP] for the Effutu constituency in the Central Region asked that he is given a little time to throw little light on his motivation to read law which he initially did not show much interest in.

In narration, he stressed “in 2002 after I bought a new car; driving on full speed from South Labadi going towards La-Palm T Junction, here comes a woman in her Nissan car with two children who crossed my car at the T-Junction. We both parked to address matters and the woman accepted her fault in good faith for scratching my car”

He further continued, however, “her two children in the car; one approached me and threatened to take the issue to his uncle who is a lawyer and his grandmother who is a judge if I don’t keep quiet and drive off quietly. They said they will take me to court and I will lose based on the personalities they have in their family”.

“Immediately I kept quiet and drove off thinking of the words the little children used on me. Fortunately for me, I had an admission to read law and so I didn’t think twice honoring that invitation and it has up till today motivated me to learn more” he added.
