Mrs Naana Eyiah Quansah, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central has advised children not to be deceived by some pastors and prophets to disown their mothers.
She said some children had stopped taking good care of their mothers because some pastors and prophets told them their mothers possessed evil spirits.
Mrs Quansah, also the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources gave the advice when she distributed cloths to almost 600 widows and old ladies in her constituency at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central Region.
She asked children to refrain from speaking evil against their mothers, saying “this act brings curses,” but rather they (children) should honour them, especially single parents who struggle to provide their needs.
Mrs Quansah entreated children who were blessed with money not to deny their mothers their fair share as they toiled to bring them up, and that “mothers’ roles were never-ending task. They bring forth children and hold the blemish forever, which is a huge sacrifice, yet beautiful blessing to be a mother.”
“No matter how your mother looks like, she is still God’s greatest gift to you. Some mothers died or became deformed as a result of giving birth and these are some of the implications and complications mothers go through in life,” the MP said.
She asked mothers to take good care of their children so as to reap good returns in future.
Mrs Quansah also donated 200 pieces of cooked jollof rice to the inmates of Gomoa Osamkrom Prison Camp to put some smiles in their faces and encouraged them to have hope in God no matter their situation.
ASP Charles Yaw Kumah, who received the food on behalf of Chief Superintendent Justice Essuman, in-charge of Gomoa Osamkrom Prisons expressed gratitude to the MP for her kind gesture.
The inmates through ASP Kumah appealed to Mrs Quansah to provide them furniture to be used in the assembly hall and five ceiling fans to be fixed in each of the prison rooms to reduce the excessive heat.
Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, the District Chief Executive for Gomoa Central commended the MP for her efforts to support the aged women in the area and advised not to insult their mothers at the least provocation.
He called on the people to rally strongly behind President Nana Akufo-Addo and Mrs Quansah for the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to deliver on its campaign promises.
