A former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Koku Anyidoho, has said there must a conscious mindset revolution in dealing with perennial floods in the country.

He wants Ghanaians to say no to politicians and start a civic revolution since politicians take a huge chunk of the blame for not putting in place the needed structures to control floods and play dirty politics with flooding.

“Ghanaians should begin to start some kind of civic revolution in this country, and if we leave this thing for politicians, this country will not go anywhere. I am a politician but this Ghana does not belong to politicians, it belongs to all of us and so let’s wake up and say we are tired of politicians and ignore them,” he said on Adom FM Friday.

Some parts of Accra got flooded again on Friday morning after a heavy downpour that started Thursday evening. The rains subsided around 3:am on Friday with some parts of the capital flooded. An alert by the Ghana Meteorological Agency has predicted more rains in many parts of the country on Friday.

Commenting on the development, Mr Anyidoho wondered why local authorities mandated to ensure sanity in the country had done nothing to curtail the problem.
