General Mosquito Disappointed At Choice Of Sir John

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary says he is disappointed at the choice of Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Johnson Asiedu Nketia says neither Sir John nor any of the newly elected executives has enough political experience to match the NDC executives. He was responding to suggestions that the NPP will match the NDC boot for boot to wrestle power from the ruling party. I am pleasantly surprised too that they seem not to be thinking that leadership matters. They think that the job of a General Secretary can be performed by anybody, he said. According to Mr Asiedu Nketia, NPP could have rather settled for some district assembly job somewhere rather than a business as serious as general secretary of a political party. The NDC General Secretary also said Sir John only gained popularity through rabble rousing on radio stations in Kumasi. However, Mr Afriyie says the NPP will continue to hap on the Mills administrations failings to justify the need for power to change hands in 2012. Political analyst Kwasi Amakye dismisses criticism its too early to start campaigning ahead of 2012. I think everyday counts in the life of a state. The opposition has got, indeed, to be battle-ready and go about affairs constructively and get the government even to do the right thing, he said. Mr Amakye said early congress will enable the NPP to properly organise to wrestle power from the ruling NDC. Pressed to predict the most likely winner in the event of an election this year, Mr Amakye said the decision only lies in the hands of the electorate.
