Relevant sectors of the economy must have youth policies

Mr. Joseph Asam Yaotsey, Headmaster of the Worawora Senior High School, on Saturday, urged the government and relevant stakeholders to evolve suitable youth policies to promote investment in the development of the youth. He made the call when he reviewed a parade of 540 students and pupils to mark the 53rd Independence Anniversary at Worawora. Mr Yaotsey urged parents, chiefs and other actors in the education enterprise to partner government to implement interventions aimed at making the youth self-reliant. He called on Ghanaians to rededicate themselves to nation building processes and eschew negative tendencies. He commended school authorities, students and pupils for the smart turnout and impressive march past. The march past was preceded by a two hour route march through the principal street of Worawora with music provided by the Anglican Brigade Band of Worawora. At Hohoe, 69 schools took part in the Anniversary Parade with music provided by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Band and the Saint Augustine Brass Band. Mr. Victor-Hermann Condobrey, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive, in an address, said the Municipality was responsible for youth resourcefulness and would, therefore, do everything within its might to achieve success. He said the government's priority to provide quality education was unwavering and interventions such as the FCUBE, capitation grant, school-feeding grants, free school uniforms and exercise books were clear indications of its seriousness. Mr. Condobrey said 1,025 acres of land had been acquired for the Youth in Agriculture programme in the Municipality to create jobs and replant degraded forests and urged the youth to take advantage of the intervention.
