Review Peoples Representations Act MP

The MP for Asante Akim south Hon Gifty Ohene-Kunadu has called for a review of the Peoples Representation Act 1960 to ensure more representation of women in national affairs. She made the suggestion when she contributed to a statement made by Hon. Mary Salifu Boforo MP for Savelugu on International Womens Day which was commemorated yesterday. Hon Gifty Kunadu observed that activism for gender equality in the country was low during the era of the various military regimes. She however noted that effort towards gender equality in the country gained momentum under the NPP government especially with the creation of the ministry for women and children affairs. She called on President Mills to take more steps to increase women participation in governance of the country. Contributing to the statement the NDC MP for Tamale North Alhaji Sumani Abukari lauded women all over the world for their immense role to the well being of humanity.
