Carnage On Roads: Police Only Interested In Taking Ghc10 And Ghc20 Bribes – Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Chairman Wontumi, has disclosed that the police are only interested in taking 10 and 20 Ghana cedis whilst on road checks duties.

According to him, instead of the police doing a proper check on vehicles, they end up taking monies from drivers with faulty vehicles.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he explained that this attitude of the police is a major contributing factor to the numerous road accidents the country is witnessing.

He said it is about time the police sit up and do what is expected of them and ensure that faulty and rickety vehicles are taken off the road.

He also challenged the Transport Minister to liaise with the Inspector General of Police and ensure that police personnel assigned on our roads ensure sanity and to maintain law and order.

"The NPP government has provided enough logistics to the police to ensure that they effectively dispense their duties," he added.
