Ghanaian Movie Stars Shun eTV

The Late Night Celebrity Show, is telecast on eTV on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between the hours of 10:00-11:00 pm, and seeks to provide a common platform for celebrated personalities in the arts, moves, music, football, media, politics, etc, to interact with their numerous fans through text messaging and the strict-proof questioning style of the hostess. However, some of the text messages and phone calls dwell on the very very private lifestyles of the guests, with the hostess adopting an abrasive interrogation style. On this show, ones personal secrets, relationship and romantic life, education, and all the skeletons in ones cupboard are laid bare. As a result of the uncompromising posture of the programme, the Chronicle newspaper has learnt that a lot of Ghanaian celebrities are scared stiff of Dzifa Smith, the hostess, and her hard line of questioning. Even though some celebrated Ghanaian stars, who have appeared on the show, have enjoyed their time, others have fluffed it by their denials and nonchalance. The reason behind the seemingly unofficial boycott by some celebrities of the show, became evident last Wednesday, 11th May, 2011, when Mr. Prince Ekow Freeman, one of Ghanas finest Movie Stars appeared on the show. In an apparent off camera discussion, when the show had taken a short break, Prince Ekow Freeman disclosed to Dzifa that some movie celebrities are uncomfortable with the format and style of her live show. After the show had resumed from the break, Dzifa wanted to mention the names of the so called Celebrities running away from her programme, as revealed to her by Prince Freeman. But the latter prevented her from doing so, since he did not want to create any confusion and panic among the movie stars. According to the hostess, the Late Night Celebrity Show is not a slaughterhouse where celebrities are negatively exposed, but the show rather seeks to allow Celebrities interact with their fans all over the country.
