COVID-19: COCOBOD To Shut Down All Offices For Fumigation After Staff Tests Positive

Peacefmonline.com can confirm that some staff of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) have tested positive for COVID-19 after the organization embarked on a mass testing a few days ago.

Consequently, all offices (Corporate/Subsidiaries/Divisions) of COCOBOD, will be shut down for a three-day fumigation exercise, effective Wednesday, 8th July 2020 to Friday, 10th July 2020, to ensure that the safety of other staff are not "compromised".

Reliable sources hinted, however, that staff of the government-controlled institution that fixes the buying price for cocoa in the country are expected to resume work, hopefully on Monday, 13th July 2020.

An internal circular sighted by Peacefmonline.com and signed by the Chief Executive Officer Joseph Boahin Aidoo, assured that "all necessary arrangements have been made for the affected staff to receive the necessary medical attention and contact tracing is currently ongoing to enforce quarantine and isolation measures, wherever application, of members/families who have been in contact with such staff."

A similar decision was taken by the management of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) on Monday, after several of its staff tested positive for COVID-19 at the company’s headquarters.

A statement by the BOST to the general public said it was "closing down its head office at Dzorwulu in the Ayawaso West Municipality from Monday, 6th July to Monday 13 July 2020.

“This has become necessary due to mass testing of staff carried out by the company at the head office in the wake of staff of the IT department testing positive for the virus. After the mass testing, a number of staff tested positive and arrangements are being made for their treatment.
