Cops Son Commits Suicide

Dear mum, Am sorry mum it has to end this way, take heart and may God help you. Please take Good care of Desmond so that he may be a good person in future. I pray that God forgives me and I hope you will be healed in the mighty name of Jesus Christ A 21-YEAR-OLD son of Inspector Elima Issah of the Obuasi Police Command wrote these words in a suicide note he left behind before committing suicide in the early hours of Sunday in his mothers living room at the Boete Police quarters. The tragic death of Simon Kofi Ayewobo, a student of Abundant Grace Academy in Accra and father of a two-year-old boy, has left his mother dumfounded as she still gropes for answers. When she discovered her sons body hanging from a metal bar behind the door to the room, she screamed, attracting her colleagues to the scene around 6 am. The latest incident is the fifth in a series of suicide cases in Obuasi in recent times. DSP Francis Antwi Boasiako, Obuasi Divisional Crime officer, who confirmed the tragic incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the deceased left behind a suicide note which asked God for forgiveness for his action and prayed for his mother to be healed of an ailment. The deceased also prayed that his two-year-old son, Desmond, be taken care of by his mother and thanked God for the life of his son. The police boss added that his body had been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital awaiting autopsy. DAILY GUIDE gathered from residents that Simon Ayewobo took the extreme step because he was fed up with his nagging wife whose name was only given as Korkor. The deceased, who was a resident of Boete, a suburb of Obuasi, had a baby with Korkor about two years ago, according to residents, but he began having sleepless nights as a result of persistent demands from his wife. Unable to bear the harassment from his spouse, after he had been called from school five days ago, the 21-year-old form-two student hanged himself with a bandage. DSP Antwi-Boasiako said the police were investigating the circumstances leading to the boys death to determine the actual cause.
