It Was a "Needless Sensational Reportage" – Prof Gyampo On 'Willing To Go To Jail Claim'

The Secretary of the University of Ghana chapter of UTAG, Prof. Ransford Gyampo, has described as needless and sensational claims that he is willing to go to jail for better condition of service.

Prof Gyampo following a stand-off between UTAG and the government reportedly said: “Leadership is about sacrifice, people died and people lost their lives, blood was spilled so if people died and you will go to jail for three months, so be it”.

“But now, the easiest thing that the Labour Commission will always want to do is to take lecturers to court. Now if you take lecturers to court and they’re also resolved to do whatever they’ll do to push their demands for better conditions of service, then some of these will happen," he added.

But speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Prof Gyampo said his comment was in reference to the leadership of UTAG.

" . . it was a needless and sensational reportage . . . my reference was to leadership and not me as a person," he clarified.
