STC Bus Accident: No One In Critical Condition - Nana Akomea Refutes Claims

Chief Executive of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea has refuted reports that six out of thirty-nine (39) people involved in the STC bus accident that occurred yesterday, April 17 are in critical condition.

A publication by 3News indicated that the victims were taken to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba and the Effutu Municipal Hospital for medical treatment but added that six were, however, in critical condition.

The accident happened when the STC bus reportedly veered off the road at Gomoa Buduatta in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision with another vehicle said to have engaged in a dangerous overtaking.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme Tuesday morning, Nana Akomea emphasized that none of the victims, who were largely school children, had been admitted in critical condition.

According to him, there were minor injuries and one student who had a fracture in her arm and is at the 37 Military Hospital responding to treatment.

The rest, he stated, were immediately treated and discharged to the various homes and destinations.

"There is no one in the hospital. It's not true. All the victims have gone back to their destinations and homes," he clarified.
