Absolute Power Will Corrupt You...Just Focus And Work Effectively - National Media Commission Told

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has called on the National Media Commission to up their game in censoring media contents.

The Governance Lecturer at the Central University, speaking to Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo", bemoaned the influx of inappropriate contents on radio and television.

He expressed disgust that some media stations entertain persons claiming to double money for the public, persons who use vulgar language in their presentations and programmes showing ritualism among other indecent contents.

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah asked the National Media Commission to utilize the existing laws and execute their mandate effectively to check the excesses in the media.

He kicked against the call for the Commission to be given more power to supervise the media saying what the Commission needs isn't absolute power but to work effectively.

"National Media Commission, apply the authority you have now. Don't seek for more power but just put the power you currently have into good use...Absolute power will corrupt you", he appealed to the Commission.
