Stars of Spain's historic Women's World Cup win took in the sunshine as they enjoyed a much-deserved break following their success.

La Roja broke England hearts when the final whistle below at Stadium Australia on Sunday and lifted their first world crown thanks to skipper Olga Carmona's first-half strike.

Unfortunately, much of the talk following their triumph has surrounded the actions of Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales, who grabbed Spain's all-time leading scorer, Jenni Hermoso, and kissed her on the lips as the side collected their winners medals.

The unwelcomed move was the latest in a long line of questionable actions by the FA in the lead up to and after the tournament.

But on Wednesday, Hermoso revealed via an Instagram story that some in the squad had retreated to Ibiza to let their hair down and bask in the sun following their triumph.
