'Like It or Not, Ken Is A Force' . . . Hauling Him Before the DC Is "Unnecessary" - NPP Cautioned

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, a lecturer at the Central University, has registered his displeasure with the New Patriotic Party calling Kennedy Agyapong to its Disciplinary Committee over his "showdown" comment during the party's special delegates election on Saturday, August 26.

The NPP is considering a disciplinary action against the Assin Central MP for accusing President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of intimidating his polling agent during the election and threatening to give them a showdown.

“President Akufo-Addo, I swear to God, I will give you a showdown. Vice president, I will give you a showdown. You’ve chased away my agent for him to hide in a room, we shall see. You will hear what will happen. I swear to God, I will challenge President Akufo-Addo anytime,” he said in the viral video.

But Dr. Otchere-Ankrah says summoning Kennedy Agyapong before the Disciplinary Committee is "unnecessary".

According to him, what Mr. Agyapong said is nothing for him to be hauled before the Committee.

He advised the party to find better ways to handle the situation, emphasizing "there are some people that we should learn to manage them well and you will get the best out of them".

To him, if Kennedy Agyapong had said the same thing to the opposition National Democratic Congress, he would have received a rapturous applause from the New Patriotic Party, so wondering why he is now to face a disciplinary action.

"Like it or not, Kennedy is a force...Even if Bawumia wins after the election, you will still need all nine of these people to come and join you for you to forge ahead. So, they should be careful; they should manage it well...If it were the NDC in power and Kennedy said I will give NDC a showdown, they (NPP) would have applauded him...He has said worse things when NDC was in power and the NPP hailed him", Dr. Otchere-Ankrah cautioned the NPP on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo".
