Bugri Naabu Leaked Tape: It's Just 'Senseless'...IGP Can't Influence Elections - Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea has rubbished the allegations that Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, will influence the 2024 elections in favor of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A Parliamentary Committee has launched a probe into allegations by senior Police officers, COP Alex Mensah and Supt. George Asare that the IGP is working against the ruling New Patriotic Party to lose the general elections.

The officers were captured in a viral leaked audio recording accusing the IGP of many things including he being a sympathizer of the NDC which fuels their fear that Dr. Dampare may influence the outcome of the election.

But Nana Akomea, speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, has ridiculed these assertions.

He found it impossible for Dr. Dampare to influence an election in Ghana, asking "how can the IGP determine the outcome of an election?"

To him, it makes no sense for a person to think that the IGP can determine how an election turns out.

"There is no logical basis for such allegation. Infact, it is childish," he stressed, adding "if the IGP [Inspector General of Police] can determine the outcome of an election, no ruling party would lose elections in this country because every IGP is appointed by the ruling party".
