Appreciate The Painstaking Investment Nigeria Has Made In Its Creative Industry And Stop The Needless Comparison - Mawuli Gavor

Popular Ghanaian actor and businessman Mawuli Gavor has stated that until Ghanaians appreciate the creative industry and make huge investments in it, they have no business comparing themselves to Nigeria.

He mentioned that Nigerians were only reaping the fruits of their labour now because they painstakingly invested in the entertainment industry, while Ghana couldn’t boast of same progress.

Mawuli Gavor indicated that because Nigerians had high regard for entertainment, a number of the sectors particularly the banks were investing the sector.

“Nigerians aren’t idiots for doing the things that they did to get to where they are. So when they are successful, don’t look around and say why it didn’t happen to Ghana. GT Bank saw the potential in entertainment. They formed an entertainment wing at Ndani TV and produced their own content.

“Access Bank also saw potential in entertainment, formed Accelerate TV, and created their own content. UBA saw the entertainment opportunity and formed Red TV,” he explained.

Speaking to Amelley Djosu on Joy Prime's Celeb Biz, Mawuli Gavor expressed belief that entertainment is a multi-billion dollar sector which can rake in a lot of money into the Ghanaian economy if the right investments were made.

“Let’s not be naïve, and let’s not pretend not to see the potential that is right in front of us. Entertainment makes huge money. So if you think that these big banks - GTA, Access Bank, and UBA - are silly and you’re the only one who knows what you’re doing, no problem. That’s fine. They will continue to thrive, and we will continue to be here making excuses,” he said.

The popular actor who has starred in a number of movies such as Just In Time, Devil in the Detail, Sugar Daddy among others expressed lots of optimism in the incredible wealth of talent and was confident the industry will blossom with the right investments.
