Akosombo Dam Spillage: Akufo-Addo Did Not Sound Like A “Father”– Prof Gyampo

A Professor of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Edward Gyampo has described as “unpresidential” some comments made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to victims of the Akomsobo dam flood.

Viral videos on social media of portions of the President’s remarks to the affected people of the dam flood seem to suggest that he was taking a dig at the people of the Volta Region.

“I came here because Ghanaians are having difficulties and suffering and it is my responsibility to try and help. If it is the question of counting who votes for me and who doesn’t vote for me, I shouldn’t be here because you don’t vote for me but that is not my concern,” the portion of the widely circulated video by the President said.

Prof Gyampo who was speaking on the issue in an interview with NEAT FM morning show, 'Ghana Montie' said the President did not show that "he is a father to all.”

"He did not sound like a father,” he added.
